My MAC Palette

Building a MAC palette is expensive but a lot of fun. It seems a lot of companies are adopting the technique of creating palettes that are completely personalised as each shadow is chosen by you. Yet, it is no surprise that MAC are the most popular suppliers of this. You don't need me to tell you about the massive range of eyeshadows MAC has to offer. The array of colours, formulas and finishes seem pretty limitless and there really is a shadow for everyone and everything. I've been building this palette for a little over a year now and finally have filled each pan with a determined selection of shades that I feel cater for every look I need. As you can probably tell by the pictures, I have a lot of love for shades like Naked Lunch and All That Glitters.  Neutral pink/gold, iridescent shades that can easily be swept over the lid everyday and you're done. I have received so many compliments when wearing these eyeshadows and pretty much wore these and only these everyday for the whole of S/S 2014. I've also included tertiary shades like browns (such as Mulch and Sable) or orangey tones (such as Amber Lights or Antiqued) for A/W that are unique but surprisingly easy to wear! Then to complete the palette, I went for a more purpley shades (such as Haux and Sketch) as I find these really accentuate my green eyes.

What's your favourite everyday product?

MAC Mehr Lipstick

There's something about the sophisticated black bullet of a MAC lipstick that makes them so satisfying to buy. They are easily my most favourite thing to add to my collection which probably explains while I now own 33 (eek). I was drawn to this particular shade as although it seems pretty basic, it is actually a pretty unique colour in my collection. I tend to be drawn to nudes or deep reds for Autumn but this little dirty blue-pink is something I have never come across before. I find it easy to get stuck in a rut and always reach for something plain and un-daring, (think MAC Hue) but every now and then I like to reach for something a little bit more edgy but still safe - as paradoxical as that sounds. The blue undertone of this lippy helps to accentuate the whiteness of ones teeth adding a boost of confidence. Another aspect I was drawn to was the matte formula as I don't own many matte neutrals only bolds. This really adds to the beauty of this lipstick as it creates a perfectly defined pout.

February Beauty Favourites

I know this is slightly late considering we are a week into March but I really wanted to do a post focusing on my favourites from the past month as the products it features are ones that have only just been introduced to me and already I love them. So first all of all, The Balm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer which, unless you have been living under a rock, you will have probably heard of as it is raved about all over the blogging world. This is a perfect champagne gold hue that diffuses light thus adding a soft highlight to the skin. If you're someone who prefers to avoid shimmer, then steer clear of this as it's definitely one of my more 'sparkly' highlighting products but applied with a light hand, the shimmer adds to the beautiful glow on the skin. Another great attribute of this product is the multi-use feature it contains. Applied with a damp shadow brush, this creates a gorgeous, pigmented cream-gold eyeshadow that acts as a perfect base colour. I seriously recommend giving that  a go! Next up is the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita quad which I won't go on too much about as I have already written a full review on this palette here. If you're after a product from Charlotte Tilbury but are unsure on which one to get, I seriously recommend picking up this one. You will not regret it. Next is the Shu Umera Eyelash Curlers. I have never been one to really use eyelash curlers as my eyelashes have a natural curl that can be easily accentuated with a decent mascara. Well so I thought, until I purchased these eyelash curlers on a whim and after one use - I was hooked. This adds an immense curl which I didn't even know existed, you need to try them! Finally, I have a fragrance favourite which again I am sure most of you have heard of. The Eccentric Molecules 01 fragrance is created from a traditional base note that adds allure to any scent. This fragrance is unique as it smells different on everyone who wears it and is seriously addictive. I have worn this pretty much everyday through-out February as I seriously cannot get enough.

What are some of your favourite products from the last month?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks

Just look at those swatches - I am OBSESSED. I ordered these from the Anastasia Beverly Hills website, which thankfully ships to the UK, as I couldn't wait any longer to get my hands on their Liquid Lipsticks (£13.05). The extra charge for international delivery is high but I like to think it is totally worth it. First of all, I have to credit the shade range of these beauties as it's honestly incredible. These have every shade you can think of and all of them are totally wearable. The pigmentation is also impeccable and honestly beats any liquid lipstick I have ever tried. The application is foolproof thanks to the doe foot applicator that distributes the product evenly and seamlessly for ultra defined lips that look absolutely gorgeous. As you probably know, these have a matte finish but thankfully the formula isn't overly drying and instead have a velvet feel that feel completely comfortable on the lips. I picked up the shades Milkshake, Lovely, Pure Hollywood, Baby Pink, Sad Girl and Heathers. These shades offer hues that range from light pinks, mid-tones, corals, extra-nude or deep purple-reds. I just regret not picking up more now!

Mini MAC Haul

Nothing makes my day more than waking up to a parcel from MAC filled with products from their new collections. Like the majority, I am eagerly awaiting the release of their very much talked about Cinderella collection which, to be quite honest, I have already set my alarm for! Until then, I've satisfied my craving by picking up a few items from the Isabel and Ruben Toledo collection and one product from the Bao Bao Wan collection.  How many times can I say collection?

KIKO Eyeshadows

Shades: Top Row 202, 218. Second Row 213, 211. Bottom Row 257, 220.

KIKO is a fairly new brand on the horizon but like a lot of high street brands, the quality is incredibly and the price is even better! I have been eager to try a lot of KIKO's products for a while now and it wasn't till I took a trip to London, that I eventually got to have a mini splurge. The products that easily impressed me the most were their eyeshadows. I opted for fairly neutral shades but don't be afraid to be a little adventurous especially as they're only priced from £2.80-£5.90 which is insane! The pigmentation and range of colours would give MAC a run for their money! And like MAC, you can build your own palette by selecting each individual shade and popping them in the plastic pan. The thing that impressed me the most about these eyeshadows was the buttery texture that made them an absolute dream to blend. All the shades I have tried are easily buildable and last well on the lids. There is only two down sides to this product. I find the 9 Pan Palette slightly too big for my liking and found the size and bulkiness slightly excessive and unnecessary. The second down side is the lack of shade names which instead have been replaced by numbers. I love it when brands adopt quirky and cute names for their products and I find it adds to the memorability factor. Yet, these negative points are arguably fairly superficial and don't damper the quality of the overall products.
